"Haiku it up" - Fall

Published on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in , , ,

The DS106 assignment called "haiku it up" struck my interest, since I have always enjoyed this type of poem. Also it was interesting to join my fellow classmates in making a haiku. Furthermore, I haven't made a haiku in a long time, so it was time that I put my hand at it.

Now to the assignment's instructions the author writes:
For the writing assignment, take a random Dailyshoot photograph and create a haiku using that image. Let the image inspire you to create a poetic haiku. Don't know what a haiku is? The most common form for Haiku is three short lines. The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables. Haiku doesn't rhyme.

"Fall Has Come"

The mud is seen less
Arriving after summer
Now fall is here

I think this work of yours is appropriate to call it a haiku. :)
I've seen many works those are named haikus by the writers, but they often don't look like so coz of lacking seasonal terms.

Though I'm not qualified too judge the appropriateness of calling it a haiku, I will certainly agree with Rimi.

I really like this post for a lot of reasons. First of all, including the original assignment description as a quote in the box is a nice touch in terms of both design and utility.

Your image, as usual is stunning.

And your haiku says a great deal. It's really striking how much can be communicated with so few words (syllables).

@Morita Yea I was trying to make the haiku seasonal as possible.

@Lockman it is always fun to make something so simple as good as possible.
